New Delhi : Acclaimed Indian Animation and Short Filmmaker Varun Mehta has won the International Holiday Filmmaking Challenge conducted by Mobile Movie Making Magazine online in US. His film entry 'Diwali - The Festival of Lights' was submitted to the competition last year that featured entries from all over the world. The contestants were asked to make a short film on a particular or established holiday that must be shot over a smartphone or a mobile phone.

The winners of the competition were announced on 28th of March 2018. There was a tie for the first prize while another prize was given to the entry with most popular votes. The rest of the Information is given below via the link from the official site [Mobile Movie Making]

On speaking about the challenges of making the film 'Diwali - The Festival of Lights' Mehta said - "It is just a simple film, narrated with a very simplistic fashion. I think the Idea was just to explore the beauty of the surroundings that look extremely beautiful on the night of Diwali and its significance. I wanted it to be a little different from other documentaries that rely so heavy on mythological aspect of the festival. For a mobile movie, the concept had to do the job and I am really glad it worked. I am grateful to the Jury of Mobile Movie Making magazine for choosing my entry over some really amazing film entries that came along from all over the world.

Not only this, Mehta's another film 'Environmental Festival - The Step towards Awareness' that deals with the concept of Indian campaign 'swachh bharat' has secured a spot in the upcoming International Children Film's Festival going to be held in Lucknow from April 5. An excited Varun told us "I am extremely happy that my film is going to be a part of such a huge festival. I am honored with the Jury for selecting my film. It's going to be screened on 12th April and I am very excited and thrilled.
