SHOCKING : Pehredaar Piya Ki Goes Off Air Overnight : Cast Crew in Shock !

Sony takes Pehredaar Piya Ki off air, cast and crew in shock

The show told the ’love story ’ of a 18 year old woman and a 9 year old boy.

Probably for the first time in the history of Indian television, a show has been asked to go off air by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Yes, after weeks of dealing with controversy and petitions, SonyEntertainment Television’s Pehredaar Piya Ki has been asked to go off air by I&B Minister Smriti Irani. The show aired its last episode on Friday. In a statement, the channel said: “Effective 28th August 2017, we are pulling off our programme, Pehredaar Piya Ki, from television. While we understand that the decision to end this serial will be disappointing to those whose creative energies are vested in it, namely, its crew and cast, we (as a channel) are convinced that we will be better served by focusing instead on developing viewer interest in our upcoming, new shows. We are grateful to all the artists, producers and fans of our shows and request you to graciously support the viewership of our newer ventures.”

A few weeks back, a certain section of the audience had filed a petition against the show demanding a ban. Pehredaar Piya Ki revolves around a 10-year-old boy who gets married to an 18-year-old girl. The wedding was not for love nor any compromise, but only because the girl had promised the boy’s dying father to be his lifelong pehredaar (protector). The petition sent to Smriti Irani said, “Pehredar piya ki. A 10-year-old impressionable little kid(“piyaa”) caressing and stalking a lady who’s more than double his age and filling sindoor in her “maang” is being telecasted at prime time 8:30pm on Sony. (Family time) It is to be devoured by the entire Nation. Imagine the kind of influence it will steadily and perpetually infuse in the viewers mindset. We want a ban on the serial. We do not want our kids to be influenced by such TV serials. Join us in signing the petition to ban this serial (sic).”

The producers Shashi and Sumeet Mittal during a press conference had said, “Most of the people who are signing the petition have no clue about the show. They proudly claim they don’t watch TV. When you haven’t seen the show, how can you judge it? We have not shown anything objectionable. As traditional people ourselves, we know our boundaries. There is a sweet platonic relationship between the boy and girl, and that nowhere is against the society.”

About a fortnight back, BCCC had ordered Sony TV to shift the show to a later slot and run a disclaimer scroll during the show stating that it doesn’t promote child marriage. The channel happily obliged and shifted the show to 10:30 pm. But this sudden notice by the ministry has come as a hard blow for the channel.A source further shared, “TV has never faced the brunt of censorship like this way. It is said that some of the royal families approached the I&B ministry saying that their culture has been mocked on the show. The team thus decided to pull the plug for it was causing too much unrest. It’s a sad incident for it questions the creative liberty of show makers.”

The channel and makers did not want to comment on the matter. Pehredaar Piya Ki stars Tejasswi Prakash and Afaan Khan in the lead roles.

5 Reasons Sidharth Malhotra-Jacqueline Fernandez is the worst onscreen couple in recent times

A Gentleman has finally been released and to everyone's surprise the film is a horrific disaster at the Box Office. The film was riding high on buzz, music and action but fell flat when released in theaters. Different people, trade analysts and pundits have various reasons to give for the film's underperformance. Some saying it had a bad release day, some are saying the festivities of Ganpati Festival and Tension in North because of Ram Rahim Verdict caused the chaos. But dear friends, you cannot rule out the power of word of mouth. There have been times where a film opened with a mere 1 crore opening and went on to 50 crores. But that thing didn't favour this film. Apart from these reasons, we have few more reasons to give why the Gentleman failed to get the required numbers and we don't blame the public, this was pretty much obvious. One of the biggest reason is the absolute horrible pairing of the leading hero Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez that costed the movie big. A large section of the media was going ga ga over the fact that their pairing would create ripples but many also predicted doom for the film even before its release. The pairing of an onscreen couple, especially in bollywood films is very Important. A gentleman is nothing like Neerja, Udta Punjab or a Pink with content riding high on its name. It's a rom-com with loads of action and when you are talking about a romantic comedy there has to be not just crackling chemistry but a certain kind of likability. The pairing of Sidharth and Jacqueline is disastrous and we have five good reasons to give out so. Take a look at the five reasons as why we suggest that these two should work in a content film together but not as a usual bollywood pair.

1. Mismatched : Sidharth Malhotra has certain kind of likability in his personality. Sure he isn't a great actor but he oozes a certain kind of charm. Jacqueline on the other hand looks sexy but two good looking people can't make a great pair together. One of them should atleast be a good actor so the proportions can be balanced out. Sidharth Malhotra delivered in action department of the film atleast but what was Jacqueline's contribution? A clear mismatch.

2. Jacqueline looks older : Sidharth Malhotra is one handsome hunk. He gives a lot of Importance to his fitness which is why he looks a lot younger than his age. Jacqueline on the other hand, is a gorgeous lady but unfortunately she doesn't look younger than Sidharth. They both belong to the same age. Bollywood usually likes to see younger women being paired up. But in Gentleman, Jacqueline looked her age and somehow her pairing with Sid didn't impress moviegoers.

3. Thande Songs : Adding more to the misery, the songs were a complete fail. The cast of the film would just post on Twitter about how many YouTube views their songs got but frankly, you would find hard to look for someone who has gone through songs like 'Chandralekha' or 'Bandook Meri Laila' There's no sensation, There's no chemistry. There's no feel. Why the heck this movie was made in the first place?

4. Fans didn't like the pairing either : Since Sidharth Malhotra got a massive following within the girls, we did a little survey before the release and many fans of Sidharth Malhotra on anonymous basis themselves confirmed that they didn't like the pairing. Although they said they would be watching the film to support him only but that's just about it. They also said that the excitement of the film was never there in the first place even though the content and the premise looked interesting.

5. Dating rumours  : The breakup rumours of Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra have been surfacing from quite a while now and various section of the media have reported the reason behind their breakup is none other than Jacqueline. The couple of Alia and Sid gained a massive following since their debut film 'Student of The Year' and it further cemented with 'Kapoor and Sons'. We are sure that this news wouldn't go do well with the fans of the beloved 'jodi'. Many of the fans have reportedly boycotted the film and we can't blame them so.

At the end we are not suggesting Sid or Jacqueline to not work together. They should work but only in a film which is performance oriented. Their pairing is odd, weird and compelety disposable and we request filmmakers to think twice before they put them up in a movie. Mistakes only give you the right experience and disastrous performance of 'A Gentleman' has given it all.
