Why couldn't the beloved 'Ek Duje ke Vaaste' be saved?

Between all the confusions and never tiring debates, it has now been concluded that the beloved show 'Ek Duje Ke Vaaste' despite all the love and support from fans shall be going off air. While the channel (Sony TV) never gave an official confirmation about the same, the on-goings have indeed made it clear that the show shall breathe its last soon ie. 7th of October 2016. The shoot of the show is said to have already wrapped up.

None of the cast, crew, makers and even the fans are not happy with the decision of shutting the show midway like this. Ek Duje Ke Vaaste was supposed to be Sony's Flagship show that paved the show for a decent watch. The show quickly found appreciation towards the masses and is one of the loved shows on TV? Then what went wrong. Why a flight was cut short before reaching its destination. Why the show was devoid of giving a good chance to prove itself.

Our source shares, Sony had put a lot in Ek Duje Ke Vaaste when It was supposed to go on-air. A lot was on stake with two big shows arriving at Prime time to storm the Industry and the ratings. Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Hi and Ek Duje Ke Vaaste were Sony's big bets to make a comeback in the fiction genre. Sony tried everything to set the buzz ringing for both the shows and even organised live events to attract the masses.

Sony pinned a lot of hopes but both the shows, despite being novel and concept and appreciated in content could not register on the ratings. And it didn't really help the cause that channel's viewership is already low. Crime Patrol and CID are the only ships sailing across but even their viewing has been affected. Worse, all the recently launched show on the channel bombed miserably.

The channel then had its last hopes on 'The Kapil Sharma Show'. The show did fetch the channel some good ratings and after that the channel shifted its entire focus on the same. Coming to Ek Duje..
The show definitely became popular day by day especially the leading pair Nikita Dutta and Namik Paul but for the channel, ratings comes first. Despite repeated attempts, the show's viewership never saw an all time high.

Blame the channel's poor reach, it couldn't really sustain the expectations that were evoked by the show. When we asked our sources if the poor health of the leading actors especially Nikita was to be blamed then they denied it completely. It said 'The channel had already lost patience with the show and was toeing with the Idea to shut down already. That's when all promos and advertisements of the show had disappeared.

However, some fans do not agree with the ratings part, they said that EKDV has been doing well for the channel and was quoted at No.2 show. Also the ratings of Kuch Rang Pyaar ke not being great too. Hence a sudden and demeaning treatment to the show seems unconvincing. Shares our source - 'Sony is bound to keep Kuch Rang...as it has been doing well overseas, Although it's agreeable that trp's of that show hasn't been Impressive.

The Channel has looked upon EKDV like Humsafars. A once popular show that was a massive hit online but couldn't take on TRP's. However EKDV's fanbase is 2x than that show. Ever since the show's going off has been announced. The fans have tried every bit to save the show. Some of them even went out to protest at the Channel's office. But they were not let in to discuss. Moreover, the source shared that the channel doesn't appreciate such moves.

The creative and business decisions regarding any show are made on the table with the concerned people related to the show and since the news has been carried out to shut the show's shop, they won't be giving out anything officially until the heat dries up. It has been reported that Sony shall now telecast - Crime Patrol against the slot of Ek Duje ke Vaaste.

While we understand the channel's decisions for their shows, It certainly wouldn't hurt had they given the show another chance or a season 2. What do you think. Will you miss EKDV?
