Today is Sidharth Malhotra our birthday boy. Wish him a very happy birthday with lots of love and success and a great year. Sidharth begun his career with Dharma Productions 'Student of the Year' which was quite a dream launch for him. The film was a success that turned him into an overnight star and since there has been no looking back. Today we feature top five performances of his that got us really hooked.
5. Brothers : Let's face it, Overall..Brothers was not a great movie sure it was definitely a one time watch and Sidharth makes a lot of effort to make it so. He worked out on his character 'Monty' pretty hard and tried his best to get into the skin of the wrestler. Comparisons with Akshay Kumar was inevitable but he moved shoulder to shoulder with him. On the whole, its difficult to rate it a great performance but definitely Sidharth's efforts are quite appreciated.
4. Ek Villian : Playing a grey role isn't easy. Sometimes It can be suicidal to your career if it doesn't work out great however Sidharth's Guru did the trick in Ek Villian. Based unofficially on the korean film 'I saw the Devil', Sidharth plays a gangster troubled by his childhood. It's when he falls in love with a chirpy girl (shraddha kapoor) and mend his ways. All hell breaks loose when she gets killed and he sets out to avenge her death. The film was well received and so was Sid. He shows a vast Improvement in his acting . Also, it was a treat to have a glimpse of his Action Skills too.
3. Student of the Year : If it comes to popularity factor. Sidharth's Abhimanyu wins here HANDS DOWN ! Glowing with great looks and riveting features, SOTY was a great entertainment filled show. It was a Youth film packed all the right ingredients to have people flock into the theatres. Also this film had a lot of male skin show. Whatever that is, Sidharth impressed us all in everything he did. The biggest plus of his act that despite his character having various shades, he comes across as a quite friendly being. Since it was his debut, A little bit of rawness can be seen in some of scenes but that can be overlooked as the film hit the right chords of entertainment.
2. Kapoor and Sons : Well we wonder why that in such a good film..Sidharth was left out? Almost everyone from the cast received an applause whether its Rishi Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah, Rajat Kapoor, Fawad Ali or even Alia Bhatt despite her role being shorter. Sidharth gave an earnest performance of a young guy feeling trapped in a family's troubled paradise. Let's give some credit to him. He gives out the best to the character he could and it shows. The film was critically acclaimed and well received but Sidharth didn't get his due. Well It would be great if we could contribute in that sense in telling him that Kapoor and Sons is one of your brightest medals in terms of performance. Kudos !
1. Hasee Toh Phasee : And now we come down to No.1 After a lot of consideration we came to this conclusion that Hasee Toh Phasee is Sidharth Malhotra's finest work to date. Reason? He seems perfect in the character he plays. He doesn't strike a single false note and that's mainly the film itself is so beautiful and engaging. Although Parineeti Chopra received much acclaim for her performance, It was Sidharth's Nikhil who is actually the core of the story. His character is so relatable. He is a young middle class guy who is troubled between his fiancee and the woman he loves and how deals with situation throughout is endearing. It's appalling to know that HTP didn't really make that Impact at the box office which it deserved to do after all the country wide acclaim it got. Sure it was a success but it meant to be bigger and so was Sidharth's contribution to the film. If you want to celebrate Sidharth's Birthday with a film. Hasee Toh Phasee is the best option,
