Reasoning behind 'Channel V' bidding adieu!

As we all know about the announcement of Channel V shutting down their fictional space and switching back to its musical genre and leaving a lot of its fans deeply saddened and shocked. Channel V was indeed one of the most loved Youth Channel across the country and its closure has brought an end to the Youth Space programming which was once very popular.

But what really made the channel took this decision. Various sectors of media have reported about the channel being closed down but none has suggested any possible reason for the same. We tried our best to dig out the reasoning behind this massive take. One source has revealed 'The channel has not been doing good financially for some time now. Hence the channel heads have taken this decision to take it back where it originally belonged to.

The newly shows launched by the channel - Mastaangi, Ishq Unplugged and D4 have been failed miserably at the ratings front. Even Gumrah, which was one of the most popular show of the channel has lost its facet completely. The only successful show on the channel that has been entertaining its viewers for long is 'Sadda Haq' but even that's running on a 'dragging spree'. And it's not really enough for the show to head a big channel alone.

A section of the media had earlier reported that ratings of Channel V had gone up, which is certainly not the case. If we analyse the channel's ratio of success and failures. It has seen the latter more. While shows like D3, Paanch, Sadda Haq, Surveen Guggal, Gumrah(previous seasons) and The Buddy Project were hits, On the other hand the channel saw big flops in Million Dollar Girl, O Gujariya, Friends Condtions Apply, Its complicated, etc However, it shall not be ruled out that the concepts have indeed being appreciated. But 'Appreciation' didn't turn into huge numbers.

As a Music Channel, Channel V won't be suffering much, neither their investment is likely to be much unlike in Youth Shows which was a huge sum. Marketing of each Youth show alone costed a lot and the failures of the shows didn't help. However, letting these things aside, Channel V has indeed given solid content in providing entertainment to Youth. What it couldn't fetch was a strong viewership. We wish Channel V all the best and hope that it comes back in Youth Fictional Space. Because we at the end, do need good shows. Also it's a wake up call for the audiences as they won't be finding much options in terms of quality entertainment.

We will miss you Channel V
