I play 'Roshni' the way my writers Imagine her to be - Sheetal Singh

Sheetal Singh, the talented actress who catapulted to overnight success with Channel V's Paanch 5 Wrongs Make a Right is still popular under her 'Roshni' shadow. 2 years after the show's exit, the fans haven't been able to forget the cult series and have been demanding a season 2 since. We caught up with the pretty actress to know about her journey playing 'Roshni' and other roles. We also asked her about the possibilities of Paanch Season 2. Enjoy the excerpts from the Interview.

 Q. How do you see yourself after the success of Paanch. How do you still feel that fans are desperately waiting in need for a second season of the show?
A1) It feels great that even after the show is off air people still come and tell me how much they loved the show, Its characters and how much they want the second season.
And yes, definitely it has changed my life, out of all the roles that I have played till now, Roshni is one of those few that I'm emotionally very attached to, not just the character but the entire experience of shooting the show.

Q. Paanch was a very strong show that showcased the brutalities of ragging, yet it was a show that was supposed to show the leading protagonist in a strong manner not just emotionally but physically. Ironically such themes do not get appreciation, so did you have any inhibitions or any doubts about the success of the show before taking it up.
A2) Honestly, I didn't think of any success or anything before taking it up. I had the opportunity to play this character and I  thought I had the connection on which I could build the role of "Roshni" so I took it up.

Q. Sheetal, there is one questions fans would like to know, since we have received a lot of requests, As Paanch began, it was shown that Roshni was supposed to go abroad to become a scientist. However, it was unclear in the end whether she goes or not. What do you think that happens with Roshni. Does she get successful in becoming a scientist apart from getting justice for her sister? Or you can give us your personal views too.

A3) Roshni's only objective in life after losing her sister, was taking the revenge of her sister's death from the people who caused it to happen. Everything else was secondary and about becoming a scientist dream, I see her perusing that dream after she gets out of Regents college.  For detailed explanation, I think we should talk to our writer Mr. Aseem. I play 'Roshni' the way my writers Imagine her to be. :-)

Q. You have been portraying challenging characters be it in Horror Story, Paanch and Halla Bol. How much of the challenging roles inspire you and what's that instinct to select them.
A4) Any role can be challenging for an actor if it  demands the actor to go that extra mile, be it a role of a warrior or a homemaker. Different roles are challenging to different actors.
But Yes! Most of the roles that I have played till now appear as strong characters and Yes, I do find a connection with them and able to relate to them on some level, I guess.

Q. How was the experience working in 'Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya' and Kunwar Amar from D3. ?
A5) "Pyar tune kya kiya" experience was fun and full of entertaining times. I definitely enjoyed working with Amar. I hope he has the same thing to say about me when asked the same question. Amar and I also had lot of fun improvising lot of scenes, obviously with the guidance of our director and creative team.

Q. It is always seen that whenever an actor gets success in a particular role, fans would mostly want them to continue with such roles, especially if the previous ones had a smaller run. So what is your take on this. Would you like to make a comeback with a challenging role like 'Roshni' or you would opt for versatility.
:PA7) Umm! I don't really have a plan, if I would go for similar roles like "Roshni" or opt for something different. For me that decision happens when a role comes to me and I read it and if I have the right instinct for the role and that particular project. I'd go for it.

Q. Last Question - and this is something everyone would like to know from you. Is there a possibility of a season 2 of Paanch.
A8) I'm sure there's a possibility of second season if the writers and the producers of the show want it as bas as our fans want it.
