SHOCKING : Pehredaar Piya Ki Goes Off Air Overnight : Cast Crew in Shock !

Sony takes Pehredaar Piya Ki off air, cast and crew in shock

The show told the ’love story ’ of a 18 year old woman and a 9 year old boy.

Probably for the first time in the history of Indian television, a show has been asked to go off air by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Yes, after weeks of dealing with controversy and petitions, SonyEntertainment Television’s Pehredaar Piya Ki has been asked to go off air by I&B Minister Smriti Irani. The show aired its last episode on Friday. In a statement, the channel said: “Effective 28th August 2017, we are pulling off our programme, Pehredaar Piya Ki, from television. While we understand that the decision to end this serial will be disappointing to those whose creative energies are vested in it, namely, its crew and cast, we (as a channel) are convinced that we will be better served by focusing instead on developing viewer interest in our upcoming, new shows. We are grateful to all the artists, producers and fans of our shows and request you to graciously support the viewership of our newer ventures.”

A few weeks back, a certain section of the audience had filed a petition against the show demanding a ban. Pehredaar Piya Ki revolves around a 10-year-old boy who gets married to an 18-year-old girl. The wedding was not for love nor any compromise, but only because the girl had promised the boy’s dying father to be his lifelong pehredaar (protector). The petition sent to Smriti Irani said, “Pehredar piya ki. A 10-year-old impressionable little kid(“piyaa”) caressing and stalking a lady who’s more than double his age and filling sindoor in her “maang” is being telecasted at prime time 8:30pm on Sony. (Family time) It is to be devoured by the entire Nation. Imagine the kind of influence it will steadily and perpetually infuse in the viewers mindset. We want a ban on the serial. We do not want our kids to be influenced by such TV serials. Join us in signing the petition to ban this serial (sic).”

The producers Shashi and Sumeet Mittal during a press conference had said, “Most of the people who are signing the petition have no clue about the show. They proudly claim they don’t watch TV. When you haven’t seen the show, how can you judge it? We have not shown anything objectionable. As traditional people ourselves, we know our boundaries. There is a sweet platonic relationship between the boy and girl, and that nowhere is against the society.”

About a fortnight back, BCCC had ordered Sony TV to shift the show to a later slot and run a disclaimer scroll during the show stating that it doesn’t promote child marriage. The channel happily obliged and shifted the show to 10:30 pm. But this sudden notice by the ministry has come as a hard blow for the channel.A source further shared, “TV has never faced the brunt of censorship like this way. It is said that some of the royal families approached the I&B ministry saying that their culture has been mocked on the show. The team thus decided to pull the plug for it was causing too much unrest. It’s a sad incident for it questions the creative liberty of show makers.”

The channel and makers did not want to comment on the matter. Pehredaar Piya Ki stars Tejasswi Prakash and Afaan Khan in the lead roles.

5 Reasons Sidharth Malhotra-Jacqueline Fernandez is the worst onscreen couple in recent times

Image result for a gentleman

A Gentleman has finally been released and to everyone's surprise the film is a horrific disaster at the Box Office. The film was riding high on buzz, music and action but fell flat when released in theaters. Different people, trade analysts and pundits have various reasons to give for the film's underperformance. Some saying it had a bad release day, some are saying the festivities of Ganpati Festival and Tension in North because of Ram Rahim Verdict caused the chaos. But dear friends, you cannot rule out the power of word of mouth. There have been times where a film opened with a mere 1 crore opening and went on to 50 crores. But that thing didn't favour this film. Apart from these reasons, we have few more reasons to give why the Gentleman failed to get the required numbers and we don't blame the public, this was pretty much obvious. One of the biggest reason is the absolute horrible pairing of the leading hero Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez that costed the movie big. A large section of the media was going ga ga over the fact that their pairing would create ripples but many also predicted doom for the film even before its release. The pairing of an onscreen couple, especially in bollywood films is very Important. A gentleman is nothing like Neerja, Udta Punjab or a Pink with content riding high on its name. It's a rom-com with loads of action and when you are talking about a romantic comedy there has to be not just crackling chemistry but a certain kind of likability. The pairing of Sidharth and Jacqueline is disastrous and we have five good reasons to give out so. Take a look at the five reasons as why we suggest that these two should work in a content film together but not as a usual bollywood pair.

Image result for a gentleman

1. Mismatched : Sidharth Malhotra has certain kind of likability in his personality. Sure he isn't a great actor but he oozes a certain kind of charm. Jacqueline on the other hand looks sexy but two good looking people can't make a great pair together. One of them should atleast be a good actor so the proportions can be balanced out. Sidharth Malhotra delivered in action department of the film atleast but what was Jacqueline's contribution? A clear mismatch.

2. Jacqueline looks older : Sidharth Malhotra is one handsome hunk. He gives a lot of Importance to his fitness which is why he looks a lot younger than his age. Jacqueline on the other hand, is a gorgeous lady but unfortunately she doesn't look younger than Sidharth. They both belong to the same age. Bollywood usually likes to see younger women being paired up. But in Gentleman, Jacqueline looked her age and somehow her pairing with Sid didn't impress moviegoers.

3. Thande Songs : Adding more to the misery, the songs were a complete fail. The cast of the film would just post on Twitter about how many YouTube views their songs got but frankly, you would find hard to look for someone who has gone through songs like 'Chandralekha' or 'Bandook Meri Laila' There's no sensation, There's no chemistry. There's no feel. Why the heck this movie was made in the first place?

4. Fans didn't like the pairing either : Since Sidharth Malhotra got a massive following within the girls, we did a little survey before the release and many fans of Sidharth Malhotra on anonymous basis themselves confirmed that they didn't like the pairing. Although they said they would be watching the film to support him only but that's just about it. They also said that the excitement of the film was never there in the first place even though the content and the premise looked interesting.

5. Dating rumours  : The breakup rumours of Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra have been surfacing from quite a while now and various section of the media have reported the reason behind their breakup is none other than Jacqueline. The couple of Alia and Sid gained a massive following since their debut film 'Student of The Year' and it further cemented with 'Kapoor and Sons'. We are sure that this news wouldn't go do well with the fans of the beloved 'jodi'. Many of the fans have reportedly boycotted the film and we can't blame them so.

At the end we are not suggesting Sid or Jacqueline to not work together. They should work but only in a film which is performance oriented. Their pairing is odd, weird and compelety disposable and we request filmmakers to think twice before they put them up in a movie. Mistakes only give you the right experience and disastrous performance of 'A Gentleman' has given it all.

Amarnath attack: How the hero bus driver drove through bullets to save many lives

The attack took place despite specific intelligence inputs about terrorists planning to target Amarnath pilgrims. The police said the bus was not a part of the yatra convoy which is being provided elaborate security.

Seven Amarnath pilgrims were killed and many others were injured when a bus they were travelling in was attacked by terrorists in Anantnag on Monday (July 10) night. It was raining bullets but remarkable courage and presence of mind shown by the bus driver prevented further casualties.

The attack took place despite specific intelligence inputs about terrorists planning to target Amarnath Yatra. Police said the bus was not a part of the yatra convoy which is being provided elaborate security.

According to the sources Ismail, a Lashkar operative from Pakistan, was heading the team of militants which carried out the attack.

HOW THE DRIVER SAVED MANY LIVES:

It was about 8.20 pm on Monday. A white-coloured bus (GJ09Z9979) full of Amarnath pilgrims was travelling from Srinagar to Jammu.

The bus was not officially registered with the Amarnath Shrine Board for the pilgrimage and was without police escort.

As soon as the bus reached near Khanabal, 3-5 terrorists opened fire.

It was pitch-dark outside and raining bullets. However, the driver of the bus kept his cool.

Yogesh Prajapati, one of the pilgrims who was inside the bus, told India Today TV, that the quick thinking driver saved many lives.

"We ducked under our seats as bullets flew from all directions. Luckily, the driver didn't panic and kept on driving," Prajapati said.

The driver stopped the bus at an intersection after driving for about a kilometer.

Five of those killed were from Gujarat and two from Maharashtra.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has said the terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims in Anantnag is a "blot on all Muslims and Kashmiris".While visiting the injured in a hospital in Anantnag, she said the head of every Kashmiri hangs in shame over the incident.
"Pilgrims come to Kashmir every year for the yatra despite all difficulties. And seven people died today. I have no words to condemn it. I hope the security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir police arrest the perpetrators forthwith and take stern action against them," the chief minister told reporters.

Survey : What's really called 'Good Content' on Indian Television?

Director of many hit TV shows 'Iqbaal Rizzvi' recently stirred up a controversy when he blamed 'Indian audiences about cribbing for good content but do not accept it commercially when it is delivered to them'. Our team decided to do a mini survey to find why exactly it happens and why is it such that the shows that have 0 content run for so long and others just collapse on the floor. Reasons can be either illogical or totally frustrating but we wanted answers. Our team looked upon into few cities like Agra, Delhi, Mumbai where our team members that stay there spoke to some of the people and tried to find out the reasoning.

Akriti Pathak from Agra, Uttar Pradesh had her answer to the whole scenario. This is what she said on the whole matter. 'I think these people who crib and brag about good Indian TV content are the biggest hypocrites, their own families watch homely shows like 'Saath Nibhana Saathiya' 'Sasural Simar ka' 'Swaragini' 'Yeh Rishta... Yeh Hai Mohabbatein etc. Indian Cable television has been ruled by Indian women mostly elder family oriented women who prefer to watch shows that display Indian values. They can not connect with Youth Content or other type of shows which is why these type of shows work and It's absolutely fine. I have been a viewer of 'Kyunki ki Saas bhi kabhi bahu thi' and no matter how much people hate on this show you can't deny its success. The show dealt with family and moral values which connect with Indian people. This is what sells and always will.

Next was Radhika Tandon from Mumbai who had similar views. The thing is that people who watch shows in bulk are not on social media especially the elder women so its easy for all young audiences to brag and crib about the good content. Otherwise please tell me why don't good shows work commercially. Channel V was recently shut down. The only show that worked for them was Sadda Haq such a poor graph of the channel had. And no one really watches bindass, MTV or other channels if we take the commercial point of view. People want to watch something they can relate to.
You can cry over the fact that Indian bahus keep crying with glycerin and all, but this is what connects with people and hence ratings sweep in. Facts are Facts.

Kamini Chaudhary from Delhi duplicated the same thing and dissed out the fact on hating people who watch family oriented shows. She said - 'Instead of hating on people who watch such shows why can't people get together and support good content if that had happened..the Industry would have seen a different phase. She added - Indian TV space is totally driven by women. Men watch only cricket. They are not remotely connected to TV shows like women. Also believe it or not despite living in 21st century Indian Women still find it hard to watch content that is related to openness, sex, drugs, relationships and all. Ekta Kapoor has been criticized over the years for her lacklustre family shows. In order to change the tide, she launched an app called ALT Balaji for youth where you can watch such content but how many people really watch it in terms of numbers. She laughs - 'the idea has bombed totally'.

Akriti from Agra then continued by saying that's it is fair that if an Indian woman feels connected with a woman wearing heavy jewellery and being totally dipped in sanskars and all because you have to admit that TV serials are only a reflection of our society. They just mirror it. An average can't related to a protagonist that is playing Cricket in Tamanaah or A Random girl climbing mountains in Everest. Both supposedly good shows were launched by Star Plus, the No.1 TV network of India and both bombed. How can you blame others when you yourself failed to catch up on these shows. The definition of 'Good content' in this purpose is purely subjective.

Meanwhile Kamini said - 'You can not expect a change on Indian TV just by cribbing on social media. You can not blame the channels or producers because they are only giving you what you expect out of them. They have to make money. What might be 'good content' for you can be termed boring for others. Gone are the days when TV shows would run about years and years. These days their plugs are pulled off in 3-4 months itself if they fail to perform. Numbers, Ratings and TRP's this is all matters at the end. Any content that is good on TRP's is good content and shall survive.

Then Radhika changed the discussion on a more innovative mode : She said why do we target only Indian TV serials. Have you seen the News channels? Just open any channel here and you will notice how much exaggerate with each news they broadcast. Why? because it's all numbers game. They feel threatened that other channels shall get more numbers and the competition became more fierce. There is a lot of backlash of that content on Social Media also but has it really affected anything No? Infact every 2-3 months you will find a new news channel opening up its doors because people are watching.

She also said that 'male viewership' for Television should be encouraged. 'Men should also watch TV apart from cricket and movies. It is not that Television makers have not taken risks to bring their attraction. Infact Star One, originally targeted totally men but the only show that could survive was 'Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai' and that was also a family oriented show. After that they changed gears and started making more family oriented shows. Even now LIFE OK which is actually the updated version of Star One is dealing with shows featuring men however, it is not being much successful. So if you expect a change you have to be in it.

Akriti concluded her saying : 'Let people say what they want to...if 'saying' had really mattered, India had been the world's best nation by now. As far as Good Content is concerned. Any content that works commercially and successfully shall be termed 'good'. I personally have no problems with any TV shows that goes on air. All the people that work on such shows work very hard and we accept them. Cribbing won't help much.

After the discussion from the ladies we also reached onto the conclusion that Indeed if change in Indian Television Content needs to happen, then audiences have to work together. They would have to accept all ideas and different concepts by makers and their success would ensure others to take risks otherwise we don't really have options available. We have to either accept or ignore what is being served.

Can Bahubali Film Series Dethrone 'Sholay' and 'DDLJ' to Represent Indian Cinema as Best Film?

Image result for bahubali 2

Image result for bahubali 2

Image result for bahubali 2

Bahubali 2 has done the Impossible.. With its huge grossing figures it has set new records and benchmarks. Both critically and commercially, both the films have been lauded and applauded by the world. However, according to today's business standards, BahuBali 2 may not stay for much long in all theaters despite having the most successful run ever. There's one question on everyone's mind today.

Image result for sholay

Image result for dilwale dulhaniya le jayenge

Will Bahubali be able to dethrone films like 'Sholay' and 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' that represent Indian Cinema at larger scale? Both films are Important while Sholay's mania is still a rage today, DDLJ is known to be played at a theater for so many years. (Maratha Mandir, Mumbai). Sholay's Gabbar and Thakkur are still fresh in people's minds. Will Bahubali and Balla be able to touch that mania or should we say overcome it. In our survey, 70% people have said 'Yes' and they even said both 'Sholay' and 'DDLJ' movies were pretty much average on content and were not ambitious. But each character of Bahubali strikes a chord that will stay in audience's mind while 30% disagreed with us and said that despite liking Bahubali very much, the films shall walk with the current trend and people will not remember them like they used to with films earlier. That's why It will be difficult for Bahubali to overcome the legacy of Sholay.

This was the survey's opinion however we would like to know what our readers think. Kindly vote and show your love for the movies you adore. Bahubali or Sholay DDLJ your choice.
